7.5" Gyuto-Hiki with Coffeebag burlap and a Copper collar
8.5" Gyuto Style Chef
This one is 8.5". Gyuto style chef knife. The steel is from reclaimed buzz saw blade. The wood is stabilized spalted maple from a tree in Kansas City. The pins are from copper wiring we pulled out of my dads old barn. This one has a forced patina from horseradish.
This is a hand forged cleaver from one of the thicker saw blades I posted the other day. The saw blade is roughly 1/4". This is my first cleaver and it was the first time I've ever punched the hole by hand in hot steel. The handle is stabilized spalted sweet gum that came from the Kansas City police departments forensic lab location. The pins are copper wire from my father's old barn.
Got this little belt knife done today. It's from the same saw blade as the last few knives I've made. The handle is ironwood, the stuff is hard, dirty, and irritating. But it sure glimmers in the light.
This is the first santoku I have made. The handle material is coffee burlap laminate, but this one is special. It's the only bag I've used that has purple in it. I tried my best to bring as much of the purple out. I still think it came out pretty neat.
This is one I've been working on for a few days. It's an 8" chef forged from a leaf spring of a Ford Model T. The leaf spring came from a friend whose dad used it for a crow bar. I was fortunate enough to get enough to forge this knife. The handle is buckeye burl with a maple collar and an orange spacer. This truly is a one of a kind hand crafted knife. I may never come across something as unique as a leaf spring from a Model T again. I'm glad I could repurpose it into something so elegant.
200 MM Japanese Style Chef
200mm Japanese style forged chef from an old saw blade. The handle material is spalted Apple. I cut down the dead apple tree in late winter and planned on just burning it. It was beautifully spalted and I had a couple dozen blocks stabilized out of it.
Forged saw blade with a spalted pecan handle. The pecan came from a wood turners scraps in Florida. This stuff is beautiful. Hope you guys all had a good weekend!
7.5" forged saw blade with some of that cherry burl from the downed orchard tree. This one will be available at the CRAFT event I will be attending October 3rd and 4th. The cherry burl is absolutely stunning with more character than I could imagine. It's amazing the beauty that turns up in the strangest of places.

150 MM Honesuki
The blade of this was forged from the rest of my Model T leaf spring. This is a 150mm honesuki. The bolster is a piece of scrap copper and the handle is something new I've been working on for a while now. I call it mosaic burlap laminate. This is the product of six trial and errors.
