210x61 Kasumi Bunka

600.00

This is a wrought iron gyuto with 1.2519 core. This steel is similar to aogami #2. This is a new type of geometry that I am experimenting with. This knife has forged geometry, essentially a forged hollow right above the bevel. You can clearly see it in the choil shot picture.. This knife has a Kasumi finish done by myself on Japanese natural stones. Kasumi finishes are not very common among western makers. They take a lot of time, but the end result is absolutely worth it. It also provides an easily thinned knife. This knife has a particularly good kasumi finish. This handle is shou suji ban (scorched) osage orange. The osage orange came from the property.

Disclaimer: This wrought iron is extremely old and has large silica deposits in the iron which are naturally occurring and sometimes this results in voids in the iron. This is the nature of old wrought iron and part of what gives it its beauty.
