This knife was made from 52100 ball bearing steel. This steel takes a very fine grained edge and has nice retention. This steel has been heat treated to 63HRC. One notable quality of 52100 is its relative toughness when compared to other carbon steels at comparable a hardness. This knife has a complex S grind, which is a hollow along the middle of the blade which aids with food release. The handle of this knife is wonderful California Redwood burl that came from northern Cali. The ferrule is mountain caribou antler from a friend in British Columbia, Canada. If you would like, I could apply a forced patina.
