This is a wrought iron gyuto with 1.2519 core. This steel is similar to aogami #2. I would consider this knife to fit into a ‘midweight’ category. I think this knife would be perfect for in home use. This knife has a Kasumi finish done by myself on Japanese natural stones. Kasumi finishes are not very common among western makers. They take a lot of time, but the end result is absolutely worth it. It also provides an easily thinned knife. This handle of this knife is composed of red Amboyna burl with an ancient walrus oosik ferrule. These two materials compliment one another quite well.

Disclaimer: This wrought iron is extremely old and has large silica deposits in the iron which are naturally occurring and sometimes this results in voids in the iron. This is the nature of old wrought iron and part of what gives it its beauty.
