240x54 S-Grind

600.00

This knife was made from 52100 ball bearing steel. This steel takes a very fine grained edge and has nice retention. This steel has been heat treated to 63/64HRC. One notable quality of 52100 is its relative toughness when compared to other carbon steels at comparable a hardness. This knife has a complex S grind, which is a hollow along the middle of the blade which aids with food release. This profile is slightly different than my normal profiles, the knife took significant /Sori/(upward bow similar to that of a katana, but only about 2mm in this instance) during the heat treating process and I left it because I found it to be quite interesting. The handle of this knife is composed of spalted honey locust that was harvested from my property several years ago. The ferrule is African Blackwood. If you would like, I could apply a forced patina upon request before shipping.

Measurements:
Out of the handle: 2.55mm
Middle: 1.99mm
4cm from tip: 1.39mm
2cm from tip: 1.16mm
Weight: 198g

If you buy a knife and ask for a refund before shipping there will be a 10% restocking fee.
