220x52 S-Grind Western

550.00

This knife was made from 52100 ball bearing steel. This steel takes a very fine grained edge and has nice retention. This steel has been heat treated to 63/64HRC. One notable quality of 52100 is its relative toughness when compared to other carbon steels at comparable a hardness. This knife has a complex S grind, which is a hollow along the middle of the blade which aids with food release. The handle of this knife is composed of high quality ironwood burl with black g10 liners. The scales are attached with brass corby bolts which screw together. The corby bolts provide us with a mechanical bond in addition to the bond from the marine grade epoxy. If you would like, I could apply a forced patina upon request before shipping.
