250x52 Kasumi WH

$800.00

This is a wrought iron gyuto with 1.2519 core. This steel is similar to aogami #2. This knife has a Kasumi finish done by myself on Japanese natural stones. Kasumi finishes are not very common among western makers. They take a lot of time, but the end result is absolutely worth it. It also provides an easily thinned knife. The wrought iron polishes extremely well on japanese natural stones. This handle of this knife is composed of a curly gidgee and a carbon fiber ferrule. It would e a perfect candidate for kasumi polishing on Japanese natural stones due to the already stone worked bevels. This knife has a much thicker ricasso (neck) compared to my normal stuff, this knife is a definite workhorse but still very thin behind the edge.

Spine Measurements:
Out of the handle: 6.45mm
Above Makers Mark: 2.88mm
Middle: 2.11mm
4cm from tip: 1.95mm
2cm from tip: 1.63mm
Weight: 246g

Disclaimer: This wrought iron is extremely old and has large silica deposits in the iron which are naturally occurring and sometimes this results in voids in the iron. This is the nature of old wrought iron and part of what gives it its beauty.
